BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers broke open a close game in the second half on Tuesday night as they defeated the Quincy Orioles 56-42 in a Big 8 Conference boys basketball game at McNett Fieldhouse.
The Chargers led 26-25 at halftime before they took control with a 16-8 third quarter which put them ahead 42-31. Union City then sealed the win with a 14-9 fourth quarter.
Brandon Miner scored 12 points to lead Quincy while Braylon Estlow and Alex Dunn each had eight points. Union City statistics were not provided.
Union City is now 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big 8. Quincy drops to 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Union City also won the J.V. game 42-38.

In other Big 8 Conference boys basketball on Tuesday night, it was a rough night for the Bronson Vikings as they lost at Stockbridge 70-43. The Panthers dominated the game as they jumped out to leads of 15-9 after the first quarter and 38-17 at the half.
M-Live reports Stockbridge’s Jacob Dalton had 23 points including seven triples which tied a school record for 3-pointers in a game.
Bronson statistics were not provided. After winning five straight, the Vikings have lost three games in a row. They are 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the Big 8.
