“It is more blessed to give than receive” Acts 20:35
Sherie Leigh Healy, 65, made her way into the arms of Jesus and was reunited with both parents with her loving husband and children by her side on January 23, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital from complication of a sudden stroke.
Sherie was born on July 27, 1959, and from that day forward brought nothing but sunshine and happiness into our lives and the lives of many others. Born and raised in Bronson, Michigan, she was the baby girl of 7 siblings. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School until 8th grade and then finished school at Bronson High School in 1978.
Sherie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a single mother of two daughters until she met the love of her life Don Healy. They married at the Yesh Farm at the pond in 1988. They had a big, beautiful wedding and the entire town of Bronson showed up to the wedding reception. It was a big ole Polish party! A short time after the honeymoon, they welcomed a daughter and four years later a son.
She was a devoted wife. Always making sure Don had his lunch packed and a hardy meal on the table when he got home from a long day of work. But don’t think for one second she was just a Betty Crocker homemaker. Sherie for most of her life held down multiple jobs at the same time. She had amazing people skills and worked as a waitress, welder, Garden Shed potting specialist, factory worker and retail worker. All while making sure the needs of her husband and children were met. Sherie and Don were married for 36 wonderful years. In those years they were there for each other through house remodels, births, deaths, tears, joy, raising kids and enjoying grandchildren.
Sherie was a super mom, always helping at the schools for all her children, attending sporting events and field trips, involved in Brownies, Girl Scouts, 4H, Summer Park Programs and feeding the mouths of so many of her children’s friends. She may have had only four biological children, but she had many others that claimed her as their mom too.
Sherie was a caring and loving daughter to her mother Joan. She truly enjoyed doing everything with her mom and for her mom. They enjoyed garage sales, vacationing, birthdays, holidays, shopping, making floral arrangements, cooking, arts and crafts and chatting on the phone about the newest news going on in the family. Sherie was always in awe of her mom and how she handled raising all those 8 kids. She was a loving caretaker of her father Fran when he was dying as well. She moved into the Yesh home to be his bedside nurse, Sherie’s God-given gifts of the heart of servant have been felt by many living and dying.
Sherie was a wonderful sister as well. She spent many summers vacationing with her sister Robyn or brothers Dale and Terry at the Yesh Cabin in Wellston, Michigan. She loved her big family and enjoyed helping them all in any way she could. She loved all her siblings very much and quickly took on the role as mother hen when their mom passed. She never wanted anyone to feel left out and always made room at the table for anyone who wanted to stop by. Caring for her siblings brought her great joy.
She was known for being a fun aunt! Sherie loved to have fun, be goofy, laugh and make people happy! She would partake in the family’s annual Pumpkin Gut Fight with so much joy and laughter. She would invite her many nieces and nephews over to color Easter Eggs and babysat many of them over the years. You can ask anyone of them and they’d for sure have a favorite Aunt Sherie story.
Sherie was also known for her love of shopping at Good Better Best Shop, the Dollar Store, Goodwill and garage sales. She loved finding the deal of the day. She enjoyed sharing her treasured finds with her children and husband. Her husband Don often found many of these treasures and wants all to get ready for your “deal of the day” because these items will be sold to the highest bidder at her garage “estate” sale. All kidding aside, Sherie recently retired from Wal-Mart and would undoubtedly cherish having the clearance isle named in her honor. Sherie loved to give her kids, grandkids, husband, family and friends surprise gifts from her treasure finds. These were known as “Sherie Gifts”. You never quite knew what you were getting. If you know, you know. Her “Sherie Gifts” will be greatly missed.
Sherie also enjoyed visits from her cousins and friends, hanging in the garage, she loved planting flowers, playing badminton, the Upper Peninsula, rock hunting on the beach, making arts and crafts. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, doting over all of them and making each one feel special. She was a wonderful cook and had fan favorite dishes like her granny cake, her corn casserole, broccoli and rice casserole and her peanut butter cookies.
She loved Jesus and believed in God with all her heart. She used to say she hoped her mom would save her a seat in the nosebleed section of heaven. Sherie loved all of us so much and sharing her love with each of you. She will be deeply loved forever and never forgotten. There will never be another Sherie. We will miss her fun personality, her contagious smile, her ease to be kind and her special way. Sherie used to say, “Have a good day, the choice is yours.” On a last but serious note, she will be deeply missed.
Sherie is survived by her husband the love of her life Don Healy; her four children April (Chris) Sanders, Angela (Jeff) Marks, Sarah (Dj) Underwood, Donnie (Kassandra) Healy; her siblings Fran Yesh, Mike (Teresa) Yesh, Mark (Holly) Yesh, Terry Yesh, Robyn (Mike) Wasikowski, Dale (Jackie) Yesh, Greg (Wendy) Yesh; her grandchildren Olivia Albertson, Nicholas Sanders, Dakota Sanders, Gracie Marks, Dawson Marks and Odin Underwood; many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
