COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former Coldwater man who had nine charges filed against him last July for alleged sex crimes involving children dating back to 2008 entered into a plea agreement on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
54-year-old David Michael Miller of LaGrange, Indiana entered no contest pleas to two counts of third degree criminal sexual conduct as well as to charges of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct and gross indecency between males.
In exchange for his pleas, another case file which contained five charges was dismissed.
Miller’s sentencing hearing has been scheduled for March 17. The plea agreement calls for Miller to get concurrent sentences of 75 months to 15 years on the third degree counts, 39 months to five years on the gross indecency charge and 16 months to two years on the fourth degree CSC count.
According to Branch County court records, Miller is also known as Michael Robert Rottenstein. He was arrested following a Michigan State Police investigation.
Court documents indicate the two victims were 11 or 12 years old at the time the crimes started. They told State Police Detective Sergeant Matt Berry about many coerced sexual acts by the defendant over a span of years in both Ohio and Indiana in a five page probable cause affidavit.
Miller still has legal proceedings against him in Michigan’s St. Joseph County as well as in LaGrange County, Indiana. The Michigan Attorney General’s office is handling the St. Joseph County case.
