COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County 911 Director Bob Swick told the 911 Board on Wednesday that after looking into the background of a Colorado based employment company, they have put an effort to hire them on hold.
GetResq911 claimed they serve clients around the country and were contacted to see if they could help Branch County 911 with an ongoing shortage of staff.
Swick said he found out the company was new and that most everybody had used them for between two and six weeks. He stated, “that wasn’t really enough time to gage anything to say if they were good, bad or otherwise.”
On the other hand, he said union talks began last week, months before they have started in the past in an effort to improve conditions for their staff of overworked 911 dispatchers.
Officials are hoping to things can improve enough in new contracts so that more dispatchers can stay with Branch County 911 Dispatch and that the revolving door of recent years can be stopped.
Swick reported they still have five fulltime staff members with four more in training. Another is scheduled to start training next Monday. A full roster would consist of 12 fulltime dispatchers.
