COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a bid of just under $27,000 from Adrian Environmental of Britton, Michigan on Monday night for asbestos abatement and removal from two city owned structures at 295 South Clay and 695 West Chicago.
The South Clay location is the former service station that is scheduled to be demolished for blight removal and a future intersection realignment.
The building on West Chicago was purchased to expand Rotary Park and develop a new driveway and parking area for the park.
City Manager Keith Baker said the bid from Adrian Environmental was almost $30,000 less than the one submitted by Mid-State Asbestos Removal Incorporated of St. Louis, Michigan.
He added crews from Parrish Excavating are ready to get to work on the Rotary Park project.
Baker says Adrian Environmental has completed other projects in Coldwater including the basement of the former Putnam Funeral Home and the staff has been satisfied with the quality and timeliness of the work.
The cost will come from the City’s Rotary Park renovation project budget which is being funded by the City’s annual cannabis tax revenue.
