COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority held a rare meeting on Thursday in which they recommended to the City Council that they approve a proposed plan to establish a tax increment financing district for a set of properties which includes the Western Meadows Project on Western Avenue.
A public hearing will be conducted in front of the City Council at a later date.
City Manager Keith Baker said this is being proposed after a change in state law.
Connor Zook from Triterra of Lansing said there are 17 properties that are eligible.
Under the plan, 10 units will be constructed along a proposed subdivision off Western Avenue along with three on Amber View Court. Others would be on South Clay Street, Northshore Drive, Candlewood Court, and Shoshoni Pass.
Total capital investment into the project is in the millions of which over $508,000 is proposed for Brownfield reimbursement to the City. The duration of this Brownfield Plan would be for seven years.
