STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says a fugitive wanted on several sex crime charges was arrested in Florida Thursday morning following a joint investigation.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Meeks says 48-year-old Tyron Curtis Jackson was taken into custody in Liberty County, Florida Thursday with the help of the US Marshals Service.
Jackson was wanted for nearly six months after arrest warrants were issued in three separate Steuben County cases, Meeks says.
He was wanted on two counts of rape and two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in one case, misdemeanor invasion of privacy in the second case, and misdemeanor domestic battery in the third case, police say.
The department says all three cases allegedly took place in August 2024 in rural Steuben Township.
Jackson is currently being held in the Liberty County Jail awaiting extradition to Steuben County.
Meeks says the arrest was made following a months long joint fugitive investigation by Steuben County detectives and the US Marshals Service.
