Steuben County, IN (WTVB)- Angola fire officials say a family’s pets were killed in an early morning house fire on Monday. Crews were called out to rural York Township at 3 a.m. and on arrival found the home to be fully engulfed in flames.
Angola Fire Chief William Harter says while working to put out the fire, crews deemed the pets had died in the blaze. Occupants of the home were sleeping when the fire started but were able to escape uninjured, however one firefighter was treated at the scene for exhaustion. Harter says the home and it’s contents were determined to be a total loss and that the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
