Dwight Lee Olney, 89, of Quincy passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Jay Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard Township.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. till the time of the service.
He was born August 1, 1935, in Quincy to William and Mary (Hicks) Olney. Dwight married Irene Kellicut March 26, 1961, and she preceded him in death December 31, 2015.
Dwight graduated from Quincy High School in 1953 where he met his high school sweetheart. He then went on to serve in the Air National Guard of Michigan and the United States Air Force Reserve for six years. He was also a dedicated farmer from 1961 until his retirement in 2000.
When he wasn’t working, Dwight enjoyed traveling with his wife across the country, even to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Mexico, and especially winters in Florida. He loved tinkering in his shop, fishing, playing dominos and games with friends, and listening to the Statler Brothers.
Survivors include his sister, Genevieve Shepard of Florida; many nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years, Irene Olney; four siblings, Ruth (William) King, Betty (Floyd) Lampman, Richard (Maureen) Olney, and William (Beverly) Olney; and brother-in-law, Raymond Shepard.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the South Litchfield Baptist Church.
