COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff Fred Blankenship Tuesday announced the restoration of 24-hour road patrol coverage for Branch County, beginning April 1.
In 2013, due to budget cuts, the Sheriff’s Road Patrol budget was significantly reduced, eliminating the ability to provide overnight patrols. Blakenship says in response to growing concerns from local citizens and after collaborative efforts with the Branch County Board of Commissioners, they were able to find funding for the additional patrols.
In a release Blankenship said, “This is a significant step forward for the safety of our community, reinstating 24-hour patrol coverage, we are ensuring that every resident of Branch County has the protection and peace of mind they deserve, no matter the time of day or night.”
“The decision to restore full-time patrol services follows feedback from Branch County residents, who expressed their concerns about gaps in law enforcement coverage. The Sheriffs Office worked closely with the Board of Commissioners to secure the necessary funding to reestablish these crucial patrols, ensuring a safer environment for all citizens.”
Retired Sheriff Pollack and his administration were also credited with being a driving force in the restoration of the 24-hour coverage.
Blankenship also expressed gratitude for the continued support of the citizens of Branch County and the collaborative partnership with the Michigan State Police.
Blakenship says Branch County residents can expect enhanced patrol presence throughout the county, as deputies will now be on duty around the clock to respond to emergencies, maintain public safety, and assist residents as needed.
Excellent! Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this happen.
