STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB)- T he National Weather Service has confirmed an E-F1 tornado touched down in southern Steuben County on Sunday. The NWS says the tornado originated in a field north of Little Turkey Lake around 5:28 p.m. before racing northeast damaging several outbuilding and uprooting trees.
The most notable damage was a collapsed metal barn near Little Turkey Lake and a 50 to 100 yard swath of trees that were snapped or uprooted near Long Lake. It’s believed the tornado was on the ground for approximately seven minutes.
Additional damage to trees and powerlines was caused by straight line winds in excess of 75 mph.
