COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is hoping to conduct another scrap tire collection on Saturday, October 11.
Plans were announced during Thursday’s Board of Commissioners work session.
This year’s collection is scheduled to take place next to the Department of Human Services on Keith Wilhelm Drive if a grant is secured from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy.
The Van Buren Conservation District, which includes Branch County, will be applying for the grant and they are facing a mid-April deadline.
County Administrator Frank Walsh said depending on the volume, there will likely be a cost to the county.
The free event is held annually for Branch County residents only. Up to 10 residential tires have been accepted per vehicle on a first come, first serve basis.
