COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Last night’s storms were loud and the lighting filled the sky for over two hours, but according to Branch County Central Dispatch, other than some downed trees they had not received any reports of structural damage from around the county.
Two separate Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were posted for the county, with the latest expiring at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.
In Steuben County, Indiana, the town of Orland had several buildings damaged, with downed trees and power lines across State Road 120 that shut down the road overnight.
A storm chaser reported wind gusts of over 98 mph in both the Orland and Sturgis areas.
Consumers Energy did have around 500 additional customer lose power in Branch County during the storm, bringing the total without power to 1,712 as of 6:00 a.m. Thursday. That is just over 10% of the total customers of Consumers Energy in the county.
