Ruth Ann Kidney, 79, of Burlington passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her family.
The family will host a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Union City Assembly of God, 501 Division St, Union City, MI with Pastor Pete Payne officiating.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation in Union City.
Ruth was born December 17, 1945 to Donald and Barbara (Spence) Selby in Tekonsha, Michigan. She attended Tekonsha Community Schools. October 12, 1963, Ruth married Morris James “Jim” Kidney in Tekonsha. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2018.
Over the years she worked at the Patio Drive in in Tekonsha (where she met her husband Jim), Harding’s Grocery in Union City, Progressive Dynamics in Marshall and owned and operated Jim’s Body Shop with her husband and sons in Burlington.
Ruth enjoyed bunco, senior dances, crocheting, going to local restaurants, spending time with family and friends, but most of all her grandchildren.
Surviving Ruth are her sons, Jimmy (Cindi) Kidney of Union City and Donnie (Brenda) Kidney of Burlington; her grandchildren, Brandon (Kellie) Kidney, Lindsey (Nate) Cronkright, Lacey (Hayden) Bowersox, Jake (Alexia) Kidney, Jarit Kidney, and Johnny Kidney; five great- grandchildren, Luke, Landen, Livia, Lake, James, and Lilah; her dogs, Andy, Tucker, and Gertie, and her cat, Rocky.
In addition to her husband, Jim, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Donna; and her brothers, Bob, Donald and Eugene Selby.
Memorial donations can be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
