COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the qualifications among the many required to be an Eagle Scout is to complete a significant community service project, and that is exactly what Coldwater Boy Scout Seth Garfinkel is doing with his Eagle Scout Project.
Garfinkel is in the process of building three new Blessing Boxes to be installed in the Coldwater and Kinderhook areas. He says the goal is to have the boxes delivered and fully stocked by early next month.
A Blessing Box is a community-based initiative where a wooden box, often resembling a little free library, is stocked with non-perishable food, hygiene products, and other essentials. The box operates on a “take what you need, leave what you can” principle.
To assist with the items needed to stock the boxes, donations are being accepted at four local churches, including United Methodist Church of Coldwater, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, First Baptist Church of Coldwater, and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
All have donation boxes in their lobby for anyone who would like to partner in the project.
