UNDATED (WTVB) – Bronson and Quincy returned to the diamond for the first time in over a week and came away with doubleheader sweeps as both teams were finally able to open up Big 8 Conference play.
Bronson 11, Reading 1 (6 innings); Bronson 23, Reading 7 (4 innings)
The Vikings improved to 3-0 overall with a pair of mercy-shortened victories against visiting Reading, 11-1 and 23-7.
In the opener, winning pitcher Carson Stevens allowed only one hit and struck out 11 Ranger batters. Ben Stevens doubled, and Owen Kimmons drove in three runs.
In the nightcap, Bronson broke a 7-7 tie with 10 runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth. Max Byler had a double, two singles, and three RBIs, Kam Brackett also had three hits including a double, and Warner Wotta doubled and drove in three runs. Kimmons was the winning pitcher in relief.
The Vikings travel to Maple Valley on Tuesday.
Quincy 2, Concord 1; Quincy 10, Concord 2
At Concord, the Orioles rode the arms of starting pitchers Brennen Allman and Mason Graves to a pair of complete game victories against the Yellow Jackets, 2-1 and 10-2.
Allman allowed one run on five hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts in the first game. Ryan Kempter had three hits and drove in two runs.
In the second game, Graves gave up two runs on five hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. Christian Craven hit a two-run double.
Quincy will take a 3-3 overall record into their Saturday doubleheader against Hudson.
