Battle Creek, MI(WTVB)- The Battle Creek Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance were dispatched to Weeks Avenue and Kirkpatrick Drive for a structure fire shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday, Sunday morning.
Crews arrived to find an attached garage engulfed in flames, which were quickly spreading to the main body of the home and beginning to involve a neighboring house. Rescue crews tackled the main fire and protected the neighbor’s home before entering the residence to search for occupants and extinguish remaining flames. Due to the distance to the nearest hydrant, water had to be shuttled to the scene.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. All occupants escaped without injury, but one family cat did not survive. Estimated damage was listed at $260,000 the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
