CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WTVB)- Early this morning at approximately 3:20 a.m. , Calhoun County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near the 107-mile marker.
Deputies determined that a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck another vehicle. The struck vehicle contained two occupants, both of whom sustained injuries and were transported to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall for treatment. The male passenger’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
The wrong-way driver, identified as a 50-year-old man from Lansing, Michigan, was found to be highly intoxicated. Alcohol was confirmed to be a factor in the crash. The driver was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
As a result of the crash, the eastbound lanes of I-94 were temporarily closed but reopened a short time later.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marshall City Police Department, Emmett Township Department of Public Safety, Marshall Township Fire Department, and the Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority.
