COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater lost their Interstate 8 girls soccer home opener Wednesday night, as Parma Western shut out the Cardinals 5-0.
The score was 1-0 in favor of Western at halftime, with the lone goal coming off a shot that clanged off the left post and trickled in. The Panthers added four goals in the second half as they outshot the Cardinals 26-0.
Abby Garcia netted 21 saves in goal for Coldwater, who fell to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the Interstate 8. They return to action Friday at 6 p.m. against visiting Pennfield for a varsity-only contest.
Western shut out the Cardinal JV team 8-0.
QUINCY, MI – Quincy continued their impressive season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Bronson. Laura Bostic led the charge with a hat trick and added an assist to her stellar performance. Kenzi Maynard contributed two goals and an assist, while Izzy Barrio added a goal of her own. Elizabeth Woodward also found the back of the net, scoring her first goal of the season. Abby Hinds chipped in with an assist.
With the win, the Orioles improve to 10-2 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0. Next up, Quincy hits the road for a matchup against Jonesville this Friday.
The Vikings fell to 1-5-2 and will visit Hillsdale on Friday.
