With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Matthew Victor, a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Thursday, February 13, 2025. Matthew left us far too soon, but he also left behind countless happy memories and the love of many who cherished him.
Matthew brought joy and curiosity into the world from the start. Though he briefly lived in Tucson, Arizona, most of his childhood was spent in Quincy and Coldwater, Michigan, surrounded by a loving family. As a boy, he was always on the move—playing basketball, running, golfing, and proudly raising and showing pigs in 4-H. These early passions shaped a life of dedication, determination, and inquisitiveness.
Matthew graduated from Coldwater High School in 1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1999 and began his career at Honda of America Manufacturing. In 2006, the same summer that he and Kate married, he courageously pursued a dream of his by beginning medical school. He earned his M.D. from The Ohio State University in 2010 and, after residency, served as an anesthesiologist in Colorado for 11 years, caring deeply for his patients and colleagues. His son, Samuel, and daughter, Anna, joined his life during that time.
Outside of his work, Matthew loved running (particularly ultra-marathons), biking, hiking, hunting, watching the Spartans, and tackling yard and renovation projects with determination. Whether on a trail, in the yard, or simply at home with his family, he brought patience, humor, knowledge, and perseverance.
Matthew is survived by his wife Kate Victor (Colorado Springs, CO); their wonderful children Samuel and Anna; his loving parents Laura and Wayne Victor (Tucson, AZ); his sister Shalimar Victor (Coldwater, MI); his nephews Cameron and Austin Victor (Coldwater, MI); and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were touched by his life. He was a steady, grounding presence—kind, thoughtful, generous, and deeply loved.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Branch County Fair new swine barn.
