BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson Community Schools voters have turned down a $32.33 million dollar bond proposal by just 42 votes.
The bond proposal was aimed at improving school facilities and enhancing educational opportunities for students and would have generated 4.98 mills in 2025 and an average of 4.61 mills over the 25-year bond term.
The proposal failed 676-634, with 22.71% of registered district voters going to the polls.
According to unofficial results posted by the Branch County Clerk’s Office, of the various precincts voting, the plan only passed in Noble Township Precinct 1, Bethel Township Precinct 1, Gilead Township Precinct 1, and the City of Bronson, where it passed by just one vote.
The proposed projects focused heavily on Anderson Elementary, including a secure entry vestibule, a renovated main office, additional classrooms for grades K-5, a full-size gymnasium, a media center, and dedicated art and music rooms. Ryan Elementary would have been closed as all elementary students would have been moved into one building.
Additionally, the bond would have funded an upgrade to the district’s track and the construction of new tennis courts.
