SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – Bronson continued their winning ways on the softball diamond Friday with a pair of wins at Springport, 10-0 and 18-3 in three innings.
Ashlynn Harris threw a one-hit shoutout in the opener with nine strikeouts. She helped her own cause offensively with a triple, while Braelyn Giminez went 4-for-4, Roni Bir went 3-for-4, and Kailynne Scare drove in four runs while going 2-for-2.
In the nightcap, the Vikings scored 13 runs in the third inning to put the game away. Everybody in the starting lineup got at least one hit, with Scare going 2-for-2 with a double and triple, Hermosa Gonzalez driving in four runs with a single and double, and Lydia Wells adding a triple. Madison Shaw had four strikeouts on the circle.
Coach Becky Gray said after the game, “I was proud of the way the girls came out and hit tonight. We knew Springport would be a tough league game for us. The pitchers kept them off balance and we were able to hit well and play defense behind our pitchers. Hopefully we take our hitting mentality into (Saturday’s) tournament.”
Bronson improved to 12-6 overall, 10-0 in the Big 8, and will be at the Coldwater Invitational on Saturday.
