COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Fort Wayne woman has been charged in connection with a traffic stop this past weekend, where Michigan State Police discovered an estimated 2000 grams of heroin and or fentanyl.
42-year-old Jennifer Sue Weber is charged with Controlled Substance Possession ( Cocaine, Heroine or Another Narcotic) as well as operating with no license.
Troopers pulled Weber over Saturday on I-69 south near the 15 mile marker for driving recklessly at nearly 100 mph around other vehicles. When Weber opened her purse to look for her license troopers noticed a butane torch that is commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics.
After consenting to a vehicle search troopers found two heat sealed bags in the trunk containing a hard substance inside a sock, the bags were located in a spare tire cover and appeared to be wet. Police say Weber denied the drugs were hers and said it wasn’t her car.
Weber then appeared to have a medical emergency and was transported to the hospital to be cleared before being taken to the Branch County Jail.
Field tests of the drugs yielded a result for heroin/fentanyl with a street value estimated at between $250,000 and $300,000.
Weber was released on a $10,000 bond and will be back in court for a probable cause hearing May 29. She was also order to under go random drug testing and not to possess or consume any illegal drugs of any kind unless prescribed.
She could face up to life in prison and/or a $1,00,000 fine if convicted.
