COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Altrusa International of Branch County has announced the upcoming dedication of a new statue to the City of Coldwater, honoring the organization’s commitment to literacy and lifelong learning.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Tuesday June 10 at Four Corners Park and will bring together community members, local educators, city officials, and Altrusa members to unveil the inspiring artwork.
The statue, created by Randolph Sculptures, features two children sitting on a bench with books for legs, symbolizing the joy and transformative power of reading.
The design aims to inspire future generations of readers and learners while serving as a reminder of the importance of literacy in empowering both children and adults within our community.
The group says the hope is that the statue will stand as a lasting tribute to the importance of literacy and the impact it has on our community. It is a tangible reminder of our shared responsibility to support lifelong learning and provide opportunities for growth.
The dedication event is only one highlight of Altrusa’s ongoing community initiatives, including book drives, reading programs, and outreach projects such as Happy Feet, Teen Share, and the newly unveiled Story Walk at Water Works Park. The statue is a public symbol of Altrusa’s belief that literacy is the foundation of opportunity, and will serve as an enduring emblem of the organization’s mission to serve and uplift the Coldwater community.
