Mary Virginia Osbon, 95, of Coldwater passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Drew’s Place in Coldwater.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place with a burial of ashes to be held at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
She was born October 27, 1929 to Ledger and Irene (Swihart) Maxwell in Sturgis, MI. In June 1948, Mary married James H. Wolfcale and he preceded her in death in 1964. Mary then met and married Walter Osbon Jr. in March of 1977 and he also preceded her in death in November 2002.
Mary began working part time at Coldwater Community Schools as the librarian where she then transitioned to a full-time position with the Branch County Road Commission serving as the secretary for many years.
Following their marriage in 1977, Mary and Walter moved to Lowell, MI where she accepted the secretarial position with Root Lowell Manufacturing where she ultimately retired after many dedicated years.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater and enjoyed crossword puzzles, solitaire, playing euchre at the Burnside Senior Center, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Mary was active woman that found joy in taking walks as often as she could; but above all else, she loved time well spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mary leaves behind her children Nora (Pat) Cook, Jim (Deana) Wolfcale of Coldwater; her grandchildren James, Aaron, Sierra, Heather, Monica, Brenda, Joi Ann, Amber, Neal; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and her loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands James Wolfcale and Walter Osbon, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Julie A. Thurlby, her son David H. Wolfcale, and her brothers George and Lawrence Maxwell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, Burnside Senior Center, or to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Association.
