VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI ( WTVB) – A former Van Buren County Specialty Court Administrator has been arrested on felony embezzlement charges.
Michigan State Police say 42 year old Rachel Celeste Lindley, of Bethesda, Maryland, was arrested for felony embezzlement over $100,000 and felony embezzlement by a public official.
Lindley was arrested following an MSP led investigation that uncovered evidence she embezzled over $100,000 from various grants.
She was arraigned in the 7th District Court on Tuesday.
Embezzlement over $100,000 is a felony, punishable by imprisonment up to 20 years and/or a fine of not more than $50,000.00.
Embezzlement by a public officer is a felony, punishable by imprisonment up to 10 years and/or a fine of not more than 5,000 dollars.
MSP says following her separation from the county, she relocated to Maryland where she currently resides and works.
