BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson fire officials say a window air conditioner was to blame for a Friday morning fire.
Bronson fire crews were dispatched to the Bronson Housing Commission apartment buildings at 324 South Ruggles Street just before 9 a.m. for a possible structure fire.
The first arriving crews reported smoke coming from the eaves of one of the apartments and were able to quickly extinguish the fire and ventilate smoke from inside the residence.
According to Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber, the fire was caused by a window air conditioner and did about $5,000 worth of damage. The Coldwater Fire Department provided one engine under automatic mutual aid, and Lifecare Ambulance provided medical stand-by.
Wilber says there were no injuries, but The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the affected resident.
