COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A major improvement project for Rotary Park is scheduled to begin in early September.
In March the Coldwater City Council approved the project and awarded the construction contract for $1,515,495 to Parrish Excavating of Quincy. The first phase of the project will include a new double concrete boat launch, new public restrooms with a sewer lift station, expanded parking for the north chain of lakes boat launch, and a boat wash system to prevent invasive species.
Phase one also calls for the three current entrances to be closed, and a new entrance to be constructed as well as adding a new fishing area along the west side of the Narrows channel near the bridge.
In addition to the Parrish bid, the City has already committed $162,000 towards the purchase of the prefabricated restroom building that has been on order.
City officials says the new boat launch should be ready to open in the spring.
The second phase will include, taking down the old pavilion and replacing with a new one on the waterfront, new wetland walkways and parking areas as well as a new floating dock on Messenger Lake.
