COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Earlier this summer, the Branch County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with Coldwater Township for $194,000 of solar grant funding to be used to purchase new equipment for the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
A majority of those funds went toward new tasers and handguns; however, just under $6,000 has gone to the development of a new Sheriff’s Department app that Sheriff Fred Blankenship says will offer the citizens of Branch County a wealth of resources including jail and inmate information, updates on sex offenders in the county, and the options to opt in for push notifications.
Blankenship also says the app will offer a feature that will allow citizens to share feedback on their interactions with deputies and staff
The sheriff says the app will be available for download in the App Store and the Google Play Store by the end of the year.
