PARMA, MI (WTVB) – Despite outshooting Parma Western 21-4, the Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team gave up a pair of goals during a four minutes stretch in the second half and had to settle for a 2-2 tie in Interstate 8 Conference play Thursday.
After a scoreless first half, Coldwater got on the scoreboard first seven minutes into the second half with a goal from Sebastian Ocampo, assisted by Ahmed Norman.
Two Cardinal defensive mistakes gave Parma Western goals with 25:55 and 21:55 to play.
Abdulhamid Munnasar would score 33 seconds after the Panthers took the lead, assisted by Abdullah Ahmed, to even the score at 2-2.
Coldwater got numerous chances late in the game, but couldn’t come up with the winning goal.
Franky Ramos made one save in goal for Coldwater, which is now 1-0-1 in conference play and 5-5-1 overall.
They will host Sturgis in non-conference action Saturday, with the junior varsity starting at 10:30 a.m. and the varsity starting at 12:00 p.m.
The Coldwater JV team improved to 11-0 with a 7-0 win over Parma Western Thursday.
In other area high school soccer Thursday, Bronson fell Comstock 4-2, with goals from Ithan Grenados and Willie Ariza. The Vikings fall to 3-4 on the season and will travel to Parchment on Saturday.
Quincy lost to Charlotte 7-1.
