COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Harper Creek and Coldwater combined for 837 yards of offense in the Beavers’ 49-28 victory against the host Cardinals Friday night.
Harper Creek, the defending Interstate 8 champions, had a dominant ground game, scoring five rushing touchdowns on 449 yards compared to two scores on 106 rushing yards for Coldwater. The Beavers led 14-7 after the first quarter and 42-14 at halftime. Harper Creek also won the turnover battle, forcing five Cardinal fumbles and recovering three of them while also getting an interception return for a touchdown.
Dracyn Foster was pressured all night, but managed 21 pass completions on 31 attempts for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick. He also had 14 carries for 82 yards and two rushing scores. Evan Lewis had both receiving TDs, finishing with 137 yards on 6 receptions. Jackson Reilly led the defense with 8 tackles.
Coldwater fell to 2-1 overall, 0-1 in the Interstate 8, and will host Jackson Northwest next Friday on Homecoming night.
