COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Housing Commission Executive Director Lori LaBundy presented the Commission’s annual report to the Coldwater City Council during their meeting on Monday night.
LaBundy took over as Executive Director when Cathy Gordon retired in November of 2024 after 23 years of service.
She said multiple improvements at Englewood Apartments can be credited to Gordon’s leadership.
Additionally, the Rental Assistance Demonstration program allows occupancy to families with children and others who may not have qualified under the public housing program.
LaBundy also pointed out they manage Horizon Apartments.
The renovation of the Family Promise of Branch County Shelter was completed in 2024. Family Promise provides shelter for single adult women and any composition of families with children.
The report stated that family homelessness is rising as 55 percent of shelter clients in 2024 were families with children.
But the utilization of the shelter was low as only 21 percent of the beds were used last year.
