COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The latest version of the US Drought Monitor was released this morning and shows drought conditions expanding north and now encompass all of Branch County.
Following a dry August where rainfall totals came in more than 4 inches below normal, September wasn’t any better with just under an inch of rain which was 2.5 inches below normal for the month.
For the year we should be on average pushing 30 inches of rain by the end of September, but as of Thursday Branch County has recorded only 24 inches leaving a 6 inch deficit heading into the final three months of 2025.
After what will be near record warmth this weekend the long range forecast for the middle of next week does have several chances for rain accompanied by more seasonable fall like temperatures with highs in the 60’s and lows dropping into the mid 30’s.
