COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff Department has released details of an arrest last Friday in which a drone was used to track a wanted female in the woods.
Deputies responded to the 100 block of West Colon Road for a report of a male swinging a bat at a vehicle. When deputies arrived, they learned that a female involved in the incident had given a false name and she then ran from the scene.
Deputies, along with the Michigan State Police and Coldwater Police Department, searched the area. The Sheriff’s Office drone and a Coldwater Police K9 were deployed to assist.
The drone quickly located the suspect hiding in a wooded area, where she was taken into custody without further incident.
The female, identified as Cassaundra Lee Kidder, was lodged at the Branch County Jail for an outstanding warrant out of Lagrange County Indiana for Violation of Probation/Petition to Revoke Suspended Sentence.
Another female at the scene was also arrested for a FTA warrant out of Van Buren County.
