HUDSONVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals went 1-3 Saturday at the Hudsonville Unity Christian Invitational. They lost to Muskegon Western Michigan Christian 14-25, 25-18, 15-13, to Portage Northern 17-25, 25-13, 15-12, and to the host school 25-18, 18-25, 15-12 before defeating Lake Odessa Lakewood 25-23, 25-23.
For the day, Mya Porter had 24 kills, 3 blocks, 2 service aces, and 33 digs. Aubrey Gebbink also had 24 kills and 3 blocks, and she added 3 aces and 26 digs. Marie Powers had 12 kills and a team-high 19 blocks, while Kaitlyn Senyk contributed 10 kills. Setter Brooklyn Closson had 67 assists and 9 aces along with 13 kills, 3 blocks, and 26 digs. Maren DeBeau had 53 digs and 6 aces.
The Cardinals will take a record of 15-14-4 into Wednesday’s home match against Hastings on Orange Night, the team’s annual leukemia awareness event.
