JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Fire investigators in Hillsdale County are trying to determine the cause of a fire that completely destroyed a mobile home on Hudson Road Sunday afternoon.
The Jefferson Township Fire Department was dispatched to eight thousand block of Hudson Road around 4:15 p.m., where crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
The Hudson Fire Department provided mutual aid, and the Hillsdale City Fire Department assisted with an air tank trailer on the scene. Firefighters used approximately 60,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze, finally clearing the scene just after 8 p.m.
No injuries were reported, but the home was declared a total loss but officials have not attached a dollar amount.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department’s Victims Services Unit was called in to provide support to the five residents, which included three adults and two children.
The unit arranged for emergency overnight shelter for the family. The Hillsdale American Legion’s Mobile Canteen unit also assisted firefighters and support staff at the scene.
