COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After missing their benchmarks for response times in Branch County during the first two quarters of 2025, LifeCare Ambulance had a better report for Branch County Commissioners during their Thursday afternoon work session.
LifeCare Vice President of Operations Brian Walls said their response time for priority one calls during July, August and September in Branch County was 15 minutes or less 80-point-12 percent of the times they were called.
The contract between Branch County and LifeCare calls for response times of 15 minutes or less on 80 percent of priority one calls. Response times for priority three calls must be 30 minutes or less and that benchmark also has to be met 80 percent of the time.
LifeCare faces a five percent reduction in quarterly subsidy payments if response time goals are not met. The agreement with the county waives the penalty in cases like extreme weather and system overloads.
LifeCare’s average response time on priority one calls during the third quarter of the year was nine minutes and 38 seconds. Of the 649 calls, 129 were late.
The priority three response time was 12 minutes and 42 seconds on average. Of the 510 calls, only 28 were late which came out to a compliance percentage of 94-point-51 percent.
Walls also reported a drop in customer satisfaction from 94 percent in the second quarter to 89 percent in the third quarter.
