COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Bronson resident Joseph Blowers pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree.
The plea, entered in exchange for the dismissal of all remaining charges, includes a binding Killebrew Agreement mandating incarceration in the Michigan Department of Corrections for 210 months (17.5 years) to life.
Blowers was arrested back in May on multiple charges including 6 counts Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, 1 count Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree, 1 count Domestic Violence – Second Offence Notice and due to previous felony convictions in Branch and Hillsdale counties he was also charged as a habitual offender.
Blowers will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and submit to lifetime electronic monitoring.
The Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien described the plea to the most serious charge as an appropriate outcome, reached after consulting the victim and her family, evaluating the case’s strength, and reviewing sentencing guidelines, with the 210-month term representing the top of the scored range
