BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The final night of the regular season was a rough one for Branch County high school football teams and the Pigskin Prophet.
Coldwater, Bronson, Union City and Quincy were all defeated last Friday while the Pigskin Prophet went 1-3. The PP also struggled to a 3-3 record in his college and pro picks.
You might say the PP is in a slump. But as the late, great Yogi Berra once said, “Slump? I ain’t in no slump… I just ain’t hitting.”

The Michigan high school football regular season is over and three Branch County teams have made it to Week #10.
COLDWATER AT LOWELL
The 6-3 Cardinals stumble into the post season with two straight losses. They will have to make the long trip to Kent County to face the 7-2 Lowell Red Arrows in the opening round of the Division Three districts. Coldwater will be without starting quarterback Dracyn Foster after he sustained a dislocated elbow in last week’s loss at Marshall. Lowell’s wrestling team has won 12 straight state titles. The football team is pretty good too as they will be making their seventh straight appearance in the M.H.S.A.A. Football Tournament. The PP thinks Lowell has to many weapons for the injury-depleted Cardinals.
The PP says Lowell 28, Coldwater 12
JONESVILLE AT BRONSON
The 7-2 Bronson Vikings will host their first home playoff game since 2010 on Friday night as former Big 8 Conference foe Jonesville will provide the opposition. Bronson saw their six game streak snapped last Friday in a 7-0 loss at undefeated Big 8 Conference champion Springport. Jonesville is 6-3 after they shut out Manchester 22-0 last week. The last time these team met was in 2022 when the Comets smashed the Vikings 51-0. The football fortunes have changed in Bronson and the PP thinks the Vikings will be playing in Week #11
The Pigskin Prophet says Bronson 34, Jonesville 20
UNION CITY AT HANOVER-HORTON
The Union City Chargers lost their last two games but they still managed to make the M.H.S.A.A. playoffs with a 5-4 record. The Chargers travel to Hanover-Horton for a rematch with the Comets.
The Chargers eliminated the Comets 42-13 last season. After starting 1-2, the Comets ran the table in the Cascades West Conference and then defeated Michigan Center 20-14 last week which avenged a 53-14 loss in week #3.
It will be a close game but the PP smells an upset.
The PP says Union City 22, Hanover-Horton 20
