BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls swim and dive team traveled to Lakeview High School Friday and Saturday to compete at the SMAC championship meet. The Lady Cards finished seventh out of 10 teams.
On Friday, the Lady Cards swam extremely well, qualifying in 6 championship final events. The Cardinals also qualified in 10 consolation final events. All in all, 12 Cardinals qualified to compete on Saturday. Also on Friday, Sonya Shchendryhina qualified for MHSAA state in the 100 Breaststroke.
On Saturday:
- The relay of Korrin Brown, Sonya Shchendryhina, Zoey Daws, and Carly Krzyzanski earned a spot on the podium with a 7th place finish in the 200 Medley relay. The relay of Macy Poradzisz, Molly Mello, Ava Motes, and Alyssa Everett finished 16th in the consolation final for the 200 Medley relay.
- Carly Krzyzanski placed 16th in the consolation final of the 200 IM.
- Sienna Losinski finished on the podium with an 8th place finish in the 50 Free. Zoey Daws finished 13th, and Sidney Aseltine finished tied for 14th, in the consolation final of the 50 Free.
- In diving, Macy Poradzisz finished with a personal best score and finished 12th.
- Zoey Daws finished 14th in the consolation final of the 100 Butterfly.
- Sienna Losinski finished on the podium with an 8th place in the championship final in the 100 Freestyle. Ambriah Lewis finished 11th in the consolation final in the 100 Free.
- Carly Krzyzanski finished 16th in the consolation final of the 500 Freestyle.
- The team of Zoey Daws, Ambriah Lewis, Sidney Aseltine, and Sienna Losinski earned a podium spot with an 8th place finish in the championship final of the 200 Freestyle relay. Korrin Brown, Molly Mello, Ava Motes, and Alyssa Everett finished 15th in the consolation final of the 200 Free relay.
- Korrin Brown finished 16th in the consolations finals of the 100 Backstroke.
- In the 100 Breaststroke, Sonya Shchendryhina bettered her state time from the day before with a 7th place podium finish.
- The team of Korrin Brown, Molly Mello, Ava Motes, and Alyssa Everett finished 13th in the 400 Freestyle relay. And on the last swim of the day, the 400 Free relay of Ambriah Lewis, Carly Krzyzanski, Sidney Aseltine, and Sienna Losinski qualified for MHSAA state with a time of 4:00.39 and a 6th place podium finish.
Sienna Losinski made All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Macy Poradzisz travels to Otsego on Thursday to compete at the MHSAA Division 3 Dive Regionals to earn her spot to state. Korrin Brown, Sonya Shchendryhina, Sienna Losinski, Sidney Aseltine, Ambriah Lewis, Carly Krzyzanski, and Zoey Daws will compete again in 2 weeks at the MHSAA Division 3 Lower Peninsula Finals at the Holland Aquatic Center.
