COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Development Project Agreement between the City of Coldwater and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources concerning the Rotary Park improvement project was adopted Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
The City has received a $400,000 grant through the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund which will be used for the Rotary Park Pavilion and Fishing Dock. The grant funds are the maximum allowed under the program. They are required to be expended by October 31, 2027.
City Manager Keith Baker says the total cost of the project is about $747,000. The city will be contributing matching funds of $347,000 with the allocation coming from future cannabis tax revenue.
The city intends to use the grant funds to build an access pathway and install a fishing pier or dock. They will also be spent on landscaping, lighting, native trees, a parking lot, a playfield, and a shelter.
City staff has been working on the Rotary Park renovation project for almost two years.
