Gerald D. “Gerry” Hart, 86, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center in Angola.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. before the service. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater following the service.
Gerry was born September 15, 1939 to Glen D. Hart and Inez A. Hutchins in Coldwater. He later met and married Darla E. Mott January 20, 1968 in Coldwater. Gerry honorably served as a member of the United States Army.
Gerry spent more than 55 years working as the owner and operator of Hart’s Body Shop in Coldwater repairing and painting cars. He truly enjoyed working on vehicles. In his free time, he enjoyed racing Sprint cars at Butler motor speedway for more than 40 years and many other tracks across the tri-state area.
Gerry loved to spend time with his family. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him.
Gerry is survived by his children Todd (Jessica) Hart; Micki Rankin; Chad (Trink) Hart; his siblings Jim (Helen) Hart; Sylvia Rojas; Shirley (Kip) Albright; his grandchildren Tylar (Shelby) Rankin; Carly Rankin; Tabby (Quade) Sommers/Dashnaw; Dakota Sommers; Destiny Hart; Michael Hart; Shawn Hart; Keller Haas; Skylar (Grace) Haas; Chandler Haas; Aliczander Haas; his great grandchildren Amersyn; Purity; Edsel; Zaiden; Malachi; Magnolia; and Leo.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Darla Hart; his sister Sue Flint; and his beloved dog Buddy.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Humane Society of Branch County.
