COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Conservation & Sportsmen’s Club is offering a course focused on concealed carry and home defense fundamentals at its heated outdoor range Sunday December 14, 2025.
The course, which is a USCCA Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals (CCHD) program, covers topics such as firearm safety, Michigan CPL law, defensive shooting, and home-defense planning. According to Michigan law, completing a minimum of eight hours of training is required before a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) can be obtained.
This course meets that requirement.
The course aims for small class sizes to provide more personalized coaching. The cost is $100 per person, with discounts offered for registering multiple people. Those without a firearm can use a provided Sig Sauer P365 9mm pistol.
The club emphasizes local training with the message: “Train local. Protect local. Be the one who’s ready.” The course is put on by Michigan Defense Academy, llc and will take place at 302 East Fenn Road, south of Coldwater.
