COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Bennett McDonald had a team-high 12 points, while Jackson Reilly and Owen Tappenden each scored 10, as Coldwater led wire-to-wire to pick up a 51-46 victory against Hillsdale at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Julian Thompson added 8 points and 5 rebounds, Austin Downs contributed 7 boards and 8 assists, and Gavin Taylor had 5 points and 3 steals.
The Cardinals led 16-6 after the first quarter, 22-17 at halftime, and 33-25 after three on their way to improving to 1-1 on the season. They will host Olivet Monday night.
Brookes Beckman led all scorers with 17 points for the Hornets, while Thayden Welch had 11 and Riley Slabaugh scored 8. They fell to 0-2 on the season.

Coldwater also won the JV game 61-34 behind 20 points from Wayne Case. The Cardinal JV squad also improved to 1-1.
