The Bronson 7th grade boys basketball team fell to Quincy 30-15 Monday in the opening round of the Big 8 Conference tournament.
According to Bronson coach Derek Shaw, it was a back and forth defensive battle through the first quarter, with Quincy on top early 8-3. Sloppy passing which led to turnovers and poor free throw shooting, 2/7, from the Vikings helped Quincy to a 15-6 halftime lead.
Shaw says Bronson showed great effort on the defensive end to start the second half, outscoring the Orioles 5-4, closing the deficit to 19-11 entering the 4th quarter. The Vikings were forced to foul late and Quincy connected from the FT line to pull away for the victory.
Bronson will travel to head to Union City Wednesday night for a 5:30 p.m. contest in the second round of the tournament.
The Vikings were led on the night by Jayden Drennan, who had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Dalton Arnett had 6 steals, 6 rebounds & 1 point. Kaycenn Stauffer had 2 points & 1 steal. Isaac Price had 3 rebounds, 2 points & 1 steal. Cooper Kaiser had 2 rebounds, 1 point & a steal. Sawyer Miller added 1 steal.
