COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coach Eby Center is preparing for its annual Christmas dinner initiative, anticipating a significant increase in demand this year as rising grocery costs strain local families. The center served over 300 meals last year and expects that number to grow, highlighting a greater need for community generosity than ever before.
“Every can, box, or dollar donated helps fill a plate—and a heart,” a representative for the center stated.
To meet the anticipated need for the holiday meal, the center is actively collecting a variety of food items. Organizers have provided approximate amounts needed to help guide donors:
- Produce: 250 lbs potatoes, 250 lbs sweet potatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, cherry tomatoes
- Dairy/Refrigerated: 108 eggs, 4 gallons milk, 12 large tubs (48 oz) sour cream, 15 lbs stick butter, 2.5 gallons half-and-half, shredded chees
- Pantry/Dry Goods: 4 large containers brown gravy powdered mix, 54 boxes Jiffy mix, 10 cans pineapple, 4 cans coffee, 10 lbs brown sugar, 12 lbs sugar, half gallon vegetable oil
- Frozen/Meats: Frozen green beans, 20 lbs bacon
Baked Goods c: 450 rolls, pies and other desserts, 6 cans non-stick sprayDonations can be dropped off at the Coach Eby Center located at 89 W. Chicago St., Coldwater, MI 49036.Drop-off hours are:
Monday–Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thursday–Friday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those who prefer not to shop, monetary donations are also accepted, Contributions can be made via debit/credit/PayPal online through the Eby Center website . -Donors are asked to please put “Christmas Dinner” in the memo line to ensure funds are allocated correctly.
