QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Three players finished in double figures as the Bronson Vikings defeated the Quincy Orioles 55-46 on Thursday night in a Big 8 Conference boys basketball game at the Coolest Gym in Michigan.
The Vikings led throughout the game. They were up 16-11 after the first quarter and 22-13 at the half.
Quincy managed to fight back in the third quarter as they outscored Bronson 15-14 to cut the Vikings lead to 36-28.
The Orioles cut the lead to five points early in the final period before the Vikings went on a seven point spurt to get their lead back up 43-31. Bronson led by as many as 16 points in the last quarter.
Layne Arver led Bronson with a game-high 18 points including 15 after intermission.
Owen Losinski celebrated his 16th birthday by scoring 17 points while Warner Wotta added 10 points. Zeb Olson and Spencer Losinski both grabbed six rebounds for the Vikings.
Alex Dunn led Quincy with a double-double. He scored 15 points which included two monstrous slam dunks and grabbed 11 rebounds. Braylon Estlow added 11 points, all of them coming in the second half.
Bronson is now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big 8 Conference. Quincy drops to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big 8.
Bronson also won the J.V. game over Quincy 59-55.
