Gerald “Jerry” Lee Latta Sr., 85, of Union City passed away at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Pastor Gaylord VanAken officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson Cemetery.
Family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
He was born to George and Lucille (Helmick) Latta on May 20, 1940 in Coldwater.
Jerry attended Litchfield schools then went on to work various jobs including Acorn Windows and Essex Wire. He was a jack of all trades who loved racing cars, riding horses, and playing euchre. He was an avid western fan and loved war movies.
He was previously married to Sandra Smith and Marion Smith and had six children and four stepchildren who he loved. He had a soft spot for animals, especially his pet dogs all his life.
Survivors include his six children, Connie (Gerald) Poe, Gerald Latta Jr., Karen (Jim) Rodgers, Scott Latta, John (Jolene) Latta, and Joe Latta; four step children, Karl (Tina) Smith, Shelly Gassaway, Tracy (Julie) Smith, and Crystal (Nate) Pinkham; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grand children; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Judith Baade, and Joyce Signor.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Cassandra; and brothers, George “Larry” Latta Jr., Lyle Latta, and Dale Latta.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Branch County.
