BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – No arrests have been made yet, but the case is expected to be forwarded to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office for review after Battle Creek Police discovered several deceased animals and removed others, as part of an animal neglect investigation.
Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department, assisted by the department’s Animal Control Unit, served the warrant at a property on Woodside Drive in Bedford Charter Township Wednesday. During the search, police located several deceased dogs and one deceased cat.
In addition, 29 dogs and 15 cats, along with two horses, were removed from the property. Police say the surviving animals have been placed in a secure location, where they are receiving veterinary evaluation and care.
The Battle Creek Police Department says no additional information is available at this time.
