COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Flu cases continue to rise across the country, and locally Branch and surrounding counties have not been immune.
Dr Karen Luparello, Medical Director with the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph County Health Agency (BHSJCHA) says cases have been on the rise.
Luparello says while it’s recommended to get the flu vaccine in the fall before flu season hits even now it’s not to late
She says this years virus has hit especially hard among kids, in fact eight of the seventeen pediatric deaths nationwide have come in Michigan. Luparello says last year most of those under eighteen who died from the flu were not vaccinated
Traditionally the flu season lasts through February
